Vettel had a flat tire before the end of the race, finished seventh, but remained first in the championship, now with just one point ahead of Hamilton
The British Formula 1 driver in the Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton, won the fourth victory of the season after winning the 10th race this season on the Silverstone circuit in the UK.
For British driver, this was the fifth career triumph on this track, which made it to the top spot with legends, Britain’s Jim Clarke and Frenchman Alan Prost. Hamilton’s second-place finish was his teammate, Finn Walter Botas, and third was another Finn, Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari.
It can be freely said that Ferrari was the biggest loser of this race, because Raikkonen and his team mate, Germany’s Sebastian Vettel, the champion leader, had to enter the boxing round in the last two laps due to punched tires and lost positions they had until then (Raikkonen Second and Vettel fourth). Vettel finished seventh, after which he remained first in the championship, but now with just one point ahead of Hamilton (177-176, and third is Botas with 154). The next race is in two weeks, on the Hungaroring track in Hungary.
