Darrion Caldwell vs. Joe Taimanglo promoted to Bellator 167 main event

The two Bellator shows this weekend have undergone changes in their respective main card.

Darrion Caldwell vs. Joe Taimanglo will now be the new main event of Bellator 167, replacing the original headliner between Patricky Freire and Derek Campos. The news was announced by the promotion via a press release. Freire suffered an injury which ultimately scrapped his bout with Campos, MMA Fighting’s Guillerme Cruz reported the cancellation of the bout last week. Campos will be payed his show money and will be rescheduled to fight in 2017, according to the promotion.

Additionally, it was also announced that Ray Wood will be stepping in on a week’s notice to fight undefeated prospect A.J. McKee in the co-main event of Bellator 166. Wood is replacing McKee’s original opponent, Emmanuel Sanchez, who withdrew from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

Bellator 166 is scheduled to take place on Friday, Dec. 2 at the WinStar World Casinoin Thackerville, Oklahoma. A bantamweight title fight featuring a rematch between Eduardo Dantas vs. Joe Warren is scheduled to headline the event. Meanwhile, Bellator 167 is set to take place the day after on Dec. 3, also in the same venue as Bellator 166.
